PBCF as a Green Technology

Reduces Annual CO₂ Emissions by 9,000 Tons per Ship

Reduces annual CO₂ emissions by 9,000 tons per ship Over 35 years since PBCF was first introduced in the shipping industry, we have seen a noticeable reduction in ship fuel consumption with large container ships cutting their annual CO₂ emissions by 9,000 tons or more when adopting our PBCF technology. As regulations surrounding CO₂ emissions continue to gain speed, our improved PBCF functions as an energy-saving device by ensuring increased reductions in both CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption rates.

Selected for Equipment Designated by the Port of Vancouver EcoAction Program

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority in Canada has selected PBCF as an underwater noise reduction technology for vessels as part of their EcoAction Program. The program offers vessel operators discounted rates on harbor dues if voluntary emission reduction measures or other environmental practices have been implemented. As of January 1, 2017, vessels with PBCF that call the Port of Vancouver are eligible for bronze level recognition and a 23% discount on harbor dues. PBCF not only saves energy, but it also contributes to environmental protection in a number of other ways, including protecting whales and other marine mammals by reducing underwater noise. (The Port of Prince Rupert, Canada, has also certified the PBCF as an underwater noise reduction technology.Ships equipped with the PBCF receive a 10% discount on harbor dues.)

Received the 2017 Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Award

In October 2017, PBCF received the “2017 Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Award” presented by Nikkei Inc. All of these accomplishments reflect our steadfast efforts to contribute to global environmental conservation, with PBCF sales for over 3,200 vessels. Moreover, they represent the continual challenges MOL Techno-Trade, Ltd. has continued to develop the product even after more than 30 years of sales.

Joined the Green Award Program to Promote Quality Shipping

Since February 2019, we have served as an incentive provider in the Green Award Foundation's program to promote conservation of the marine environment. The Green Award Foundation certifies exceptional ships and shipping companies for their contributions to quality and safety standards in shipping as well as their enhanced environmental performance. Our company is helping to reduce the environmental impact of the shipping industry by offering a preferential sales price for our propeller-mounted energy-saving PBCF devices to certificate holders.

Partnered with Green Marine to Help Support its Environmental Program

Green Marine is an organization which runs a voluntary environmental certification program for the North American marine industry. It encourages companies and organizations that have joined its program to implement concrete measures for reducing their environmental impact, such as by lowering levels of underwater noise. Aligning ourselves with the beliefs expressed by Green Marine, PBCF has formed a partnership and, through our sponsorship, is helping support their efforts in promoting the adoption of ships with a low environmental impact.
